About Downeast Wood Bank

THe Downeast wood bank is a non-profit, all volunteer group whose mission is to provide seasoned firewood to families who experience some form of heating instability. The Downeast Wood Bank is located in Surry, Maine, on property provided by the Blue Hill Heritage Trust. Families can pick up 1/2 cord of firewood per visit to help meet their heating needs. Families are limited to 1/2 cord per month. Appointments are made for pickup times and volunteers are on-hand to assist with loading. All firewood recipients are encouraged to volunteer if able and pay it forward in some way in their community.

The Downeast Wood Bank serves the towns of Blue Hill, Brooklin, Ellsworth, Sedgwick, Surry, Trenton and Lamoine. The Downeast Wood Bank operates on 100% financial and wood donations.

Our Mission:

The Downeast Wood Bank aims to help community members with life essentials by supplying firewood at no cost to those in need that rely on firewood as a heating source. Our target population are individuals and families who are running short on funds and fuel to heat their homes and live in specific communities within our catchment area.

The Downeast Wood Bank is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization managed by a Board of Directors.
