Shaker Box with Peach

A fun size #2 Shaker box with a peach design.

  • 6” long x 4” wide x 2.25” tall.

  • The side oval band is made of cherry.

  • The swallowtail fingers are individually hand cut and secured with copper tacks made from 19-century machines.

  •  The top lid is walnut veneer and marquetry techniques were used to create the peach. The bottom is signed “BBY 2024 cherry walnut”

  • Boxes are first finished with beeswax, carnauba wax, orange oil, and then 1-2 protective coats of polyurethane

Bob Bing-You (“BBY”) is a hobbyist woodworker from Blue Hill, Maine. His training in woodturning and other woodcraft has been at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine and the WoodenBoat School in Brooklin, Maine. When he is not creating wood items for others to enjoy, he loves to volunteer to support the Downeast Wood Bank by splitting and stacking wood!
